Match Report

[metaslider id=1917]

A good challenge for the lads after 4 weeks without a game.

A Strong Gornal Ath North side riding high in the top promotion places of division 2. Full of confidence and ready for the challenge.

Our lads had the ability and showed they too were ready for the challenge. A strong turn out and return from injury of Olly H boosting a strong squad available on day.

Our opponents started well  but defence was marshaled well by Captian Olly B who played the offside trap well to frustrate opponents on multipal occasions.

Strong link up down the left between Kyle and Olly H started to bring its rewards and it was Olly H who put us into the lead with a header from a well worked move.

Ryan made it 2-0 soon after with a turn and finish high into the top corner from the edge of the area.

Gornal confidence was up now and football started to flow. Kyles strong run down the left was rewarded as a low cross shot was parried down by the keeper only for Will to react first 3-0.

A very positive half with all of the lads putting in a good performance, the message was clear same again, attitude to match ability.

Within a minute of the restart it was 4-0 Itai bringing a more direct game full of end product and a cross from the right was controlled by Olly H into the path of Will to steer the ball into the bottom corner of the net.

Further chances came with both Will and Olly B hitting the crossbar within minutes of each other before another cross from Itai was met with a Olly H to make it 5-0.

A big well done to the team all playing a part today from Will with his goals and hold up play alongside his team spirit to help make the pitch playable arriving an hour before meet time to help me clear puddles which could have seen a waterlogged pitch.

A big well done also to Owen for moving from a centre mid position for part of first half to in goal and helping keep the clean sheet with Zak coming off with finger injury.

The lads once got into the groove defended well and transitioned with ball with great movement and decision making with overloads.

Man of the match : Itai end product to match his ability on the ball, dangerous crosses into the box and work rate to help his full back out defensively.
