In order to emphasise the needs and wellbeing of children this short 30 minute course outlines the forms, signs and indicators, including grooming, that abuse of a child may be occurring.

The main purpose of the course is to create a greater awareness of the safeguarding role that parents and carers can play to keep children safe within the football environment.

Introduction to Coaching Football is the perfect online football coaching course for anyone looking to take a more active role in the game.

Please Note: You need to have completed the Safeguarding Children and Introduction to first aid in football before applying for this course

The course blends live weekly webinars, e-learning, community support and a range of resources to provide you with the skills to coach players of all ages.

Upon completion, you will gain confidence, begin developing your own style and apply what you’ve learned to become a transformational coach.

To pass the course, you will need to work through e-learning modules, unlocking new ones each week, as well as completing a short online assessment. The e-learning can be completed in stages in your own time.

This free online course is available to anyone who has previously completed it before or The FA Safeguarding Children Course and needs to renew their safeguarding children training.

It offers latest guidance on safer practice with under 18s, safer use of social media, safeguarding disabled children, listening to children, recognising and responding to poor practice and abuse and how and when to report safeguarding concerns.

If you’re an FA licensed coach or a coach in a Charter Standard youth team, you must update your safeguarding training every three years. All coaches and managers and others working with under 18s are strongly recommended to re-certificate.

Please note that the Safeguarding Children Course is now a pre requisite qualification module which must be completed before applying for  Introduction to Coaching Football.

Introduction to First Aid in Football

Introduction to First Aid in Football is an online course suitable for anyone looking to develop their knowledge and understanding of medical care for players of all ages.

Medical emergencies in football can strike at any time. From common injuries to life-threatening situations such as sudden cardiac arrest, understanding basic first aid can help save lives. The FA is pleased to offer this football first aid course for you to complete at your own pace.

Throughout this course, you will work through online modules and learn to be able to respond quickly should a medical emergency arise, as well as gaining the confidence to handle situations the right way.

Once you have completed Introduction to First Aid in Football, you will be awarded a certificate that will be valid for three years. You will also be able to return to the course at any time to refresh your knowledge.

Please note that Introduction to First Aid in Football is available as a seperate module and is a pre requisite prior to applying for Introduction to Coaching Football course.

About the Course

The course is designed to explore the role undertaken by a grassroots football Welfare Officer.

It is a two hour course which is required by anyone undertaking the role of Welfare Officer at a grassroots club. It builds on the safeguarding children course focussing on the specifics of the role, what is required and the key tools an individual needs to carry out the role. It will also signpost where to go for professional suport and guidance and how to access any information required in carrying out the role.

This course is  delivered as a virtual course with interactive sessions and delegates will be able to participate through the chat function as well as verbally via microphone when required.

The course will cover :

Safeguarding frameworks, taking action, recruitment, education, monitoring and compliance.

The course can be accessed via mobile, tablet, laptop or desktop but the largest device available is recommended.The course will be delivered via microsoft teams
