Match Report

A severely depleted SGUFC team travelled to face a team that expects to challenge for the title again this season. With several players unavailable through injury and others playing despite carrying injuries, this was always going to be a tough match. The women were comfortable in the first fifteen minutes but then allowed Kidderminsters top scorer Dani Selmes (a former WBA, Wolves and Coventry striker) the luxury of receiving the ball unmarked in the arae. She controlled the ball and slotted past keeper Amy Evan. A second goal quickly followed when the referee missed a blatant handball and again Selmes was on hand to fire into the net from close range. A third followed when keeper Evans played the ball out to Selmes who accepted the gift. From then on it became damage limitation but territorial possession was being conceded and another 4 goals were conceded before half time.

The second half began with Sedgley and Gornal lying much deeper and trying to make it difficult for Kidderminster to get into the area but unfortunately a long range attempt crept under the body of keeper Evans. Throughout the half Evans made a number of excellent saves which earned her the Opposition Player of the Match.
