Why is play phase (early years) activity important?
‘Childhood is a magical timeof infinite possibilities, hope and potential’
Children deserve the best possible start to ensure a bright and healthy future
The fun of taking part in games whilst keeping active can make a huge and positive difference that lasts a lifetime so we encourage parents to lay these good foundations early on for their children.
The England FA play phase as part of the early years programme is here to provide as many learning opportunities as possible for children, delivered in a safe and secure environment by the right people with the right experience and knowledge.
- All children are unique with individual abilities
- Children have their own understanding and experiences of the world
- Children use what the know to shape decisions, decide how to act and what to do
- The role of an adult is to facilitate and support development, to create learning opportunities and choices for children in all situations
The purpose of the England FA play phase is to enable children to :
- Gain confidence
- Develop a positive sense of self
- Create strong relationships
- Understand their own emotions and how to regulate and control them
- Become critical thinkers and problem solvers
- Work out for themselves how to achieve goals
- Develop a better control over both mind and body
The England football play phase sessions encourage children in skills and learning that will eventually be useful, not just in football, but generally in life.
The play phase programme makes learning fun, playful and creative for lifelong benefits.
Effective learners naturally like to explore, investigate, and take risks. They keep trying until they succeed and can respond positively when things don’t go as planned. The aim is to enourage and develop this in all children that get involved with this programme.
We will provide children with opportunities, choices and the ability to make their own decisions
Children will also be encouraged to lead parts o fthe session themselves.
