Sedgley and Gornal United FC are proud to announce that they will become one of the first grassroots WBA Women sister clubs initially for the 2022-23 season. Director of Womens football, Vince Gordon, was instrumental in quickly bringing this partnership about, utilising his contacts at one of his previous clubs, which will benefit the women and girls section of the club providing coaching support for girls teams, invitations to matches and events, including opportunities to be mascots for junior players and ongoing player development opportunities for both clubs. Vince will be working closely with WBA Women to shape and formalise the partnership over the coming months as he looks to provide further support in cementing our girls and womens player pathways including coaching opportunities and development within the Womens and Girls section. There will also be opportunities for local girls clubs who do not have a senior section to link with us in creating a larger pathway for the North Dudley and East Wolverhampton area.
Vince will continue to develop our pathway between girls teams and the womens team which will include opportunities for senior players to gain coaching qualifications and be able to take on management of new junior teams as well as developing other opportunities for junior girls to participate with the Seniors such as being mascots for key home fixtures and coaching with seniors.
For players looking to start their footballing journey we run a Weetabix Wildcats centre every Wednesday from 6:00pm – 7:00pm at Bishop Milner School and have opportunities for players to join our junior girls teams as well as our Womens team playing in the West Midlands Regional Womens League.
If you want to learn more about the opportunities or to join one of our sessions please contact us
