Following his retirement from management we are pleased to introduce Vince Gordon as our Director of Womens Football tasked with developing the Women and Girls game at the club and cementing the full pathway between the Womens first team playing in the West Midlands Regional League and the junior girls sides being introduced to football in the Stourbridge and District Girls league.
Vince has over 25 years of experience in the Womens game and has been a leading voice in the growth and development of female football in the Midlands. He rebuilt Sedgley and Gornal United FC Womens team from next to nothing into a side finishing 3rd last season and forming the foundations for further progress through the Womens Pyramid.
He has coached and managed at Birmingham City Women, West Bromwich Albion Women, Leafield and Birmingham and West Midlands (now playing as Boldmere). Whilst at Birmingham City Women he worked with International players, Rachel Yankey, Alex Scott and Karen Carney. He has also coached players who have progressed to playing in the WSL. One such player being Ashleigh Neville who is currently playing with Tottenham Hotspur Women.
Vince began the process of building closer links with the junior side at the last home game of the season when players and coaches were invited to attend the fixture and a small fun coaching session was put on for the girls and they were all invited to sit in the dugout area to view the match.
The club are looking to bring more players through the ranks to emulate current players such as Katie Moore and Charley Brookes who have been with the club from juniors and are entering their 18th and 17th year respectively.
